MARKET REVIEW
Indonesia’s JCI gained 0.37% to 6,526 after touching 6,552 early before fading. Buying in banks was key: BBRI, BMRI, BBNI and BBCA added 28 index points. Their support outweighed weakness in health care, technology and property, while July’s 13.0% credit growth reinforced the domestic-growth backdrop.
Asian markets were mixed despite Wall Street’s retreat and higher Treasury yields. Hang Seng rose 1.21%, KOSPI gained 0.88% and Shenzhen added 0.49%, with Samsung and SK Hynix supporting Korea’s chip complex. Nikkei slipped 0.30% as technology and biotechnology names lagged, limiting the regional risk-on signal available to Jakarta.
European markets opened firmer, with FTSE 100 up 0.20% and Euro Stoxx 50 gaining 0.37%, led by banks and mining stocks as gold strengthened on a weaker dollar. The improvement remained tentative: higher oil prices and the Iran conflict continue to sustain inflation and yield risks. Brent edged 0.18% higher to USD 93.78/barrel.
