MARKET REVIEW
The JCI plunged 2.59% to 5,936, falling back below the 6,000 level, as rumours that authorities would announce sanctions over alleged share price manipulation, reportedly under an OJK and IDX probe, hit conglomerate stocks. Selling concentrated in the Barito, Sinarmas and Bakrie groups, with DSSA, BREN, TPIA, CUAN and BUMI leading the drag, while the energy sector sank 5.88% as all sectors closed lower.
Asian markets closed mixed. The KOSPI slid 3.65% on concerns over AI spending, while the Shenzhen Composite fell 1.79% and the Sensex lost 0.96%. The Nikkei was flat (-0.02%), while the Hang Seng edged up 0.25% and the ASX 200 gained 0.76%.
European markets opened higher, with the STOXX 600 up 0.16%, the DAX rising 0.48% and the CAC 40 adding 0.30%, while the FTSE 100 was little changed.
