MARKET REVIEW
Wall Street turned mixed on Wednesday as investors rotated after two days of sharp gains. The S&P 500 slipped 0.17% and the Nasdaq fell 0.83% as tech profit-taking weighed, while the Dow Jones edged up 0.49%. European equities were similarly mixed, with the EuroStoxx 50 down 0.15% and the FTSE 100 gaining 0.08%.
Gold surged 4.2% to USD 4,248/oz, its largest single-day gain since February, as Iran and Oman reached an interim agreement on a temporary shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, sharply reducing expectations for further Fed rate hikes. Oil held largely steady as Brent settled at USD 79.45/barrel, with traders cautious given the route is described as temporary and subject to third-party approval.
The JCI closed higher on Wednesday at 6,351, up 0.50%, supported by gold and mining stocks as gold prices surged globally. Foreign investors recorded net sells of IDR 187.59 bn. The rupiah strengthened further to IDR 17,930/USD.
