MARKET REVIEW
Wall Street retreated as investors assessed corporate earnings and geopolitical uncertainty ahead of the Federal Reserve’s Jackson Hole meeting. The S&P 500 fell 0.52%, the Nasdaq lost 0.32% and the Dow Jones declined 0.51%. In Europe, the EuroStoxx 50 fell 0.14% and the FTSE 100 slipped 0.28%, reflecting subdued risk appetite.
WTI rose to USD 85.04/barrel, up 0.6%, while Brent settled at USD 90.87/barrel, up 2.7%, as prospects for a near-term US-Iran resolution receded. Gold held near USD 4,416.98/oz, supported by reduced expectations of further Fed rate hikes and a weaker dollar.
The JCI closed up 1.59% at 6,402, led by BYAN, SRAJ and MPRO. The rupiah weakened to IDR 17,825/USD, while foreign investors recorded net sells of IDR 396.50 bn. Trading value totaled IDR 12.45 tn.
