Market Review
Wall Street surged on Thursday as President Trump cancelled planned Iran strikes and signalled a deal was imminent, lifting risk appetite sharply. The S&P 500 rose 1.75%, the Nasdaq gained 2.54%, and the Dow Jones added 1.86%, led by technology and industrials. In Europe, the STOXX 600 closed 0.57% lower ahead of the US session’s relief rally.
Oil sold off sharply as Trump’s Iran deal signals eased Strait of Hormuz supply risk. WTI fell 2.1% to USD 85.88/barrel, while Brent settled 2.9% lower at USD 90.38/barrel. Gold surged 3.4% to USD 4,212/oz as Treasury yields and the dollar declined on prospects of a diplomatic resolution.
The JCI closed down 0.28% to 5,886 on Thursday, pulling back modestly after two sessions of gains. The rupiah traded around IDR 17,953/USD. Foreign investors recorded net sells of IDR 253 billion on the session.
