MARKET REVIEW
Wall Street closed lower as renewed US-Iran hostilities lifted oil prices and revived inflation concerns. The S&P 500 fell 0.33%, the Nasdaq declined 0.12%, and the Dow Jones lost 0.70%. Europe was mixed, with the EuroStoxx 50 down 1.01% while the FTSE 100 gained 0.29%.
Brent crude rose to USD 90.49/barrel, up 2.71%, after fresh US-Iran strikes renewed Strait of Hormuz supply risks. Gold edged up to USD 4,461/oz, gaining 0.31%, as safe-haven demand offset pressure from higher Treasury yields and renewed expectations of a September Federal Reserve rate hike.
The JCI edged up 0.11% to 6,525, supported by large-cap banks and selected commodity stocks. The rupiah weakened to IDR 17,720/USD, while foreign investors recorded net buys of IDR 39.94 bn.
