Market Review
Wall Street fell on Wednesday after the Federal Reserve held rates steady in Kevin Warsh’s first meeting as chair but signaled a potential rate hike later this year. The S&P 500 dropped 1.21%, the Nasdaq lost 1.34%, and the Dow Jones fell 0.98%. European shares closed little changed ahead of the Fed decision.
WTI crude eased below USD 76/barrel, down 1.1%, after an interim US-Iran peace deal took effect, easing supply concerns through the Strait of Hormuz. Brent settled at USD 79.55/barrel, up 0.8%. Gold held near USD 4,265/oz, steadying after a prior 1.7% drop, as traders priced in tighter Fed policy.
The JCI closed down 0.55% to 6,220.74 on Wednesday, reversing earlier gains as investors turned cautious ahead of the Fed and Bank Indonesia rate decisions. The rupiah weakened 0.21% to IDR 17,762/USD. Foreign investors stayed in wait-and-see mode amid a heavy year-to-date net sell backdrop.
