The Jakarta Composite Index surged 7.57% (+404.5 points) to 5,746.65 on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, marking its strongest daily gain in over a year. The rally followed Bank Indonesia’s surprise off-cycle rate hike, which helped restore market confidence.
Asian markets were mixed, with KOSPI (+8.18%) and Nikkei 225 (+2.17%) leading gains, while Shenzhen Composite (+2.44%), Sensex (+0.54%), and SET Thailand (+1.44%) also advanced. Hang Seng (-0.37%) and ASX 200 (-0.24%) ended lower. Regional sentiment was supported by ceasefire pledges between Iran and Israel, easing concerns over global supply disruptions.
In Europe, EuroStoxx 50 rose 0.93%, while FTSE 100 fell 0.26% and Stoxx 600 was nearly unchanged, as investors weighed easing geopolitical tensions against tighter monetary policy expectations.
