Market Review
Wall Street closed mixed on Monday as a rebound in technology and semiconductor stocks helped support market sentiment following last week’s sharp sell-off. DJIA slipped 0.16%, while the S&P 500 gained 0.30% and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.86%. Technology shares recovered amid bargain hunting in AI- and chip-related stocks, although investors remained cautious ahead of key U.S. inflation data and continued to monitor geopolitical developments in the Middle East.
Commodity markets were mixed as easing tensions between Israel and Iran reduced demand for safe-haven assets. Gold traded flat near USD4,328/oz, while oil prices stabilized with WTI above USD91/bbl and Brent near USD94/bbl. However, lingering risks to energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz continued to support crude prices.
The JCI plunged 4.52% to 5,342.14, marking its sharpest daily decline in recent months. Foreign investors remained net sellers, particularly in banking and consumer stocks, while trading value reached Rp20.1 trillion.
