Market Review
Wall Street fell sharply on Friday as a stronger-than-expected May jobs report rekindled fears of a Federal Reserve rate hike. The S&P 500 declined 2.64%, the Nasdaq dropped 4.18%, and the Dow Jones fell 1.35%, with semiconductor stocks among the hardest hit. In Europe, the EuroStoxx 50 shed 0.68%.
Brent crude surged to USD 96.47/barrel on Sunday, up 3.6%, after Iran launched missile attacks on Israel, raising supply disruption concerns through the Strait of Hormuz. Gold closed Friday at USD 4,475.8/oz, down 3.1%, pressured by the strong US jobs data and rising rate hike expectations.
The JCI closed down 4.20% to 5,594.77 on Friday, weighed by broad-based selling and heavy foreign outflows. The rupiah held at IDR 18,033/USD. Foreign investors recorded net sells of IDR 3.73 trillion.
