MARKET REVIEW
Wall Street retreated as Brent broke USD 100/barrel amid concern that Middle East conflict could prolong supply disruptions and revive inflation. The S&P 500 fell 0.48%, Nasdaq declined 0.64%, and Dow Jones lost 0.77%. In Europe, EuroStoxx 50 dropped 1.58% and FTSE 100 fell 1.31%.
Brent settled 3.36% higher at USD 101/barrel after Iran signalled readiness for a more intense conflict, raising fears of further disruption around the Strait of Hormuz. Gold slipped 0.30% to USD 4,413/oz as firmer Treasury yields and a stronger dollar offset safe-haven demand.
JCI closed 0.12% lower at 6,678. The rupiah weakened to IDR 17,513/USD. Foreign investors posted IDR 621.40bn net sells, while turnover was IDR 16.16tn. The index slipped despite gains in energy and materials shares.
