MARKET REVIEW
Wall Street rallied on Friday after a surprise 23,000 drop in July payrolls reinforced bets on Federal Reserve rate cuts. The S&P 500 rose 0.62%, the Nasdaq gained 1.30%, and the Dow Jones added 0.28%. In Europe, the EuroStoxx 50 closed up 0.33% and the FTSE 100 rose 0.31%.
Brent crude settled at USD 84.28/barrel, up 0.87%, as Iran and Oman remained short of a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and Houthi militants claimed an attack on a Saudi refinery. Gold jumped to USD 4,340.70/oz, up 2.33%, while nickel added 1.43% to USD 16,827/mt.
The JCI closed up 1.04% to 6,410 on Friday, led by banking and telco heavyweights. The rupiah firmed to IDR 17,890/USD as the dollar softened. Foreign investors booked net buys of IDR 917.23 bn.
