- Economy: Trade surplus declined to USD 470M on Jul 24
Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) recorded a trade balance surplus of USD 470M on Jul 24 (-80% mom). Export value increased to USD 22.21B (+6.55% mom), where exports of oil and gas commodities were recorded at US$1.42B (+15.57% mom), while non-oil and gas commodity exports reached USD 20.79B (+5.98% mom). However, imports increased higher to USD 21.74B (+17.82% mom), with oil and gas imports at USD 21.74b (+8.78% mom) and non-oil and gas imports of USD 18.18B (+19.76% mom). Based on data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), wholesale sales of electric cars were recorded at 17,826 units in 7M24 (+157.30% yoy). It contributed 3.68% of total national car wholesale sales of 484,236 units. Brands from China dominate the market, as seen in the top-three selling cars, namely the Wuling BinguoEV with 3,743 units, followed by the Chery Omoda E5 with 3,036 units and the Wuling Cloud EV with 2,097 units. Delta Dunia Makmur (DOID) subsidiary, Bukit Makmur Mandiri Utama (BUMA) announced that it had signed a mining services agreement with Persada Kapuas Prima (PKP) on 12 Aug 24. In this agreement, BUMA will carry out mining service work, which includes stripping overburden and coal mining. This mining services agreement will last throughout the life of the mine, with the initial phase planned for 9 years and will start from 4Q24. This initial phase of mining services work is targeted to produce more than 359.33M bcm for overburden removal and 60.6M tonnes of coal with a contract value of approximately IDR 12T or the equivalent of USD 755M.
