KEY HIGHLIGHTS
- Bank Indonesia held the BI Rate at 5.75% at the 20–21 October RDG, the fourth consecutive hold, with the Lending Facility unchanged at 6.50%, but raised the Deposit Facility by 25bps to 5.00%.
- The Rupiah is again the trigger, and MSCI has sharpened it.
- Liquidity is being loosened on the quantity side at the same time. The reserve requirement for conventional banks falls to 7% from 9%.
- Our September key watch, whether a fourth straight hold would turn into a hike, got a half answer: BI raised the floor, not the rate.
